Our Collaborative Approach
A major new attraction to the cultural landscape should not duplicate what other great institutions are doing, but complement and build on their initiatives. A strategic element of our vision is our ability to pioneer new forms of collaboration, for example:
Gateway Concept. Having a central downtown location next to BART and Muni (Powell Station), the Cable Car turnaround and in walking distance from many hotels, we stand to become a 'Starting Point' where visitors begin their San Francisco / Bay Area experience. Through close collaboration with our partners, we will successfully steer traffic to other museums, landmarks, neighborhoods, and historic sites throughout the region.
Rotating Artifacts. Working together with more than 40 regional institutions, we plan to regularly rotate 'signature' artifacts that they possess but are rarely seen by the public. Permanent Exhibits will become dynamic as artifacts change, stories are swapped and community volunteers do live demonstrations.
Bay Area Wiki. Through web collaborations with our partners we hope to expand every year the stories and perspectives available on FoundSF.org making it become the premier source for stories of men and women of the Bay Area as well the place to get multiple perspectives on key historic events.
